Greek root "Marmarous" meaning there by a shining stone.
Travertine is a banded, compact variety of limestone that’s formed along streams,
particularly around waterfalls and springs. The stone is characterized by the natural
pitted holes and troughs throughout its surface.The largest building in the world
constructed mostly of travertine is the Colosseum in Rome.
Turkey has a 40% share of world marble reserves. It is famous with its high quality
marble reserves. There are more than 300 kind of Turkish marbles ranging from light gray, black, and white and many others.
